Asian Body Work
Asian body work is an integral part of Chinese Medicine. It is a grouping of traditional manual-therapies which have been practiced for thousands of years. Asian body work aims to balance the physiological and pathological state of the body, by improving circulation and blood flow and facilitating recovery from soft tissue injury. Practitioners stimulate acupuncture points and meridians using a variety of manual techniques such as pressing, rubbing, and rolling the soft tissue with hands, forearm, or elbow. Asian body work is safe and effective, benefiting both children and adults.
Asian body work is an ideal modality for many patients with musculoskeletal disorders including soft tissue strain, sprain, dislocation and subluxation of the joints, non-infectious inflammation of the joints, TMJ Syndrome, neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, spondylosis, intervertebral discs disorders, and recovery of bone fracture. These techniques can treat internal disorders including headache, insomnia, chronic bronchitis, cholecystitis, hypertension, chronic diarrhea and constipation. Asian body work is helpful in the management of gynecological conditions such as dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, and postpartum recovery. These techniques have also been traditionally used to treat pediatric fever, cough, diarrhea, vomiting, infantile malnutrition, constipation, bed-wetting, and torticollis.
