Acupuncture

Acupuncture, which originated in East Asia more than 2000 years ago, is a manual therapy technique in which fine needles are inserted into the skin at specific locations with the goal of healing by bringing the body back into balance.

Acupuncture is recognized as an evidence-based treatment for a wide variety of health concerns including pain, headaches, asthma, fibromyalgia, and digestive disorders. Acupuncture can be an effective alternative therapy or adjunct to Western/ biomedical treatment. It can benefit athletes recovering from injury, improve the efficacy of fertility treatments and support those undergoing cancer treatment by moderating treatment side effects, prolonging survival time, and improving patient quality of life.

Research has shown that acupuncture effects the nervous system and has direct effects on the body tissues where needles are inserted. Acupuncture affects neurotransmitter and hormone secretion, alters blood chemistry, and affects the electrical system of the body.

When the East talks of Acupuncture points, Western embryologists describe organizing centers, When the West talks of fascial planes, the East talks of Acupuncture channels. There is no contradiction in these two views, it’s just a question of interpretation.
